Our Engraving TechniqueWe use a deep engraving technique called sand carving. Sand carving is the process of applying a stencil to a product and carving the stencil's open areas with sand applied at high pressure. The closed areas of the stencil covers and protects the object, leaving those areas untouched.
Sand Carving is a labor-intensive process. Graphics and text are created for the stencil to be reproduced. A stencil is made for each piece that is to be engraved. Even the most minor change in text, such as a different name, requires a new stencil to be created.
Each piece is then engraved using the sand grit size and pressure required for that specific stencil and item material. The sand carving is done for just the right amount of time to produce a crisp image into the object. The stencil and protective material is then carefully removed from each piece. Finally, each piece is inspected, cleaned and extra wrapped to assure that it reaches its destination safely.
